Music is an edge where spirit and matter meet.   I think of it as a strong and delicate and invisible membrane alive and moving and changing always in the shape of love. 

We hear many sounds in this physical world, but when we sense a sound that is alive with beauty and love we know unmistakably that we are hearing music. 

That strange box made of iron and wood and wire creates and sustains a secret being that dances and sings in our hearts. 

I think of a song and I look for the wordless love in the words and the noteless beauty in the music.  I then ask God to use my work to replicate in the heart of my listener the joy that I feel in my heart. 

I guess it is an act of faith, this making of music…the belief that, with the striking of the first note, a sympathetic vibration is set up that resonates and reverberates in the listener and the artist.  Kind of an everyday miracle that’s always there and available for you and me.
